I started my blog because I had all of these words inside me and I needed to get them out. It was like a calling. I also had a need to connect with other moms. As a first time mom trying to navigate parenting, I began using my blog as a platform. I shared my stories and parenting wins…as well as my epic parenting fails. And I have not looked back since.
Of course, I would love to write full time. Despite my very busy mom/teacher/wife schedule, I find time to write. It is just usually in the middle of the night. The thing about blogging, however, is that it is not just about the writing. The writing is easy the part. It is what comes after that is the hardest part.
The Hardest Part of Blogging
Once you hit publish on that fabulous blog post of yours, your real work begins. You have to get people to actually read your posts. Hopefully, once they read your post, they will also want to share it. And maybe even they will be persuaded to subscribe to your blog and share your fabulousness with all of their friends and family.
You have probably read the posts or seen the pins on Pinterest. You know, the ones that talk about how a blogger can actually make a full-time income blogging. I have been blogging for just over a year and I can tell you that I have made hundreds of dollars. Like…more than one hundred, but less than two hundred.
That’s right, I have worked my tail off for over a year for barely over one hundred dollars. I do not regret a second spent because I love it. But someday….someday I would like to write all day long! Write all day and be able to pay my bills.
Maybe you dream of becoming a full-time blogger making a full-time income, too. Perhaps you’ve felt frustrated, confused, or stuck at times, trying to figure out how to grow your blog, get more traffic, overcome hurdles, find smart strategies, and earn more money. (Or earn money, period.)
Truthfully, one of the best ways I know to improve in blogging is to learn from other brilliant bloggers.
Don’t you wish you could just call up your favorite bloggers, ask them out for coffee, and soak up the wisdom as they share their most effective tips and tricks?
I’ll let you in on a little secret… it’s BYOC (bring your own coffee), but there’s a way to learn from some of the smartest bloggers on the web on ALL the topics that matter for every level of blogger, and all on your own schedule and without leaving your house.

100 Ways to Realize Your Blogging Dreams
The Genius Blogging toolkit contains 91 amazing resources from experienced bloggers that already know something about realizing their fabulous dreams. But, I have learned a thing or two (or nine) in my short time blogging. I am still learning myself, which why I will be devouring thes resources. However, I don’t want you to learn the hard way (like me), so here are 9 bonus tips all for free!
9 Extra Ways to Realize Your Blogging Dreams
1. Find Your Blogging Tribe
The absolute best part of blogging is becoming a part of a real community. This is the part that money cannot buy. I rely on my blogging buddies for just about everything. We pick one another’s brains, we swap our favorite tips, and we share each other’s fabulous posts. More than that, when I’m tired, stressed, and feel like I cannot go on…these are the people I reach out to.
2. Create High-Quality, Vertical Pins
Pinterest is my number one source of traffic. Of course, just when I think I have Pinterest figured out, they change it up! I am still trying to figure out their new hashtags, so tips to come on that. However, you want to make high-quality, vertical pins right away. I use Canva to create mine. Don’t wait to get started on Pinterest, start creating your pins and then be patient. It takes a few weeks or even a few months before your pins will start to gain momentum.

3. Stay Active on Pinterest

Once you create those amazing pins, you want to get them out there on Pinterest. The best way to do that is to stay active on Pinterest pinning other people’s pins. If you are like me, you do not have time to pin all day long on Pinterest. For this, you need a scheduler. I use both Tailwind and Boardbooster. However, I also spend time every day manually pinning. This way, I am regularly pinning, but Pinterest seems to like manual pinning in their algorithm.
4. Use Tailwind for Both Pinterest and Instagram
I use Boardbooster to schedule my pins because they figure out which boards my pins need to go to and when. They also have a great looping feature. To schedule everyone else’s pins, I use Tailwind because I can schedule hundreds of pins well in advance. Plus, Tailwind has figured out the best times to post to both the Pinterest and Instagram platforms. It has made a HUGE difference! Timing really is everything!
5. Use Tribes
Both Tailwind and Boardbooster now have tribes! I am a huge fan of Tailwind Tribes and now Boardbooster has tribes, too! Tribes serve to help you cross-promote pins with your tribe members. I love tribes because I have seen a huge spike in my traffic after using tribes and they help me keep my queue constantly filled!
6. Join Facebook Groups
Like tribes, participating in blogging Facebook groups is a great way to learn and drive your blog traffic. I once belonged to hundreds of groups. Now, I participate actively in about three-five groups. At first, I just could not keep up with all the groups. But I have realized that I actually have made better connections and have greater engagement by keeping it to just a few groups!
7. Post Regularly
Your readers and followers will love it if you keep to a consistent blogging schedule. It took me a LONG time to realize this! I was posting twice per week consistently for over a year. As a newbie blogger, I recommend posting often and regularly to build up your library, so to speak, of blog posts. Now, I usually only post once per week on Wednesdays. I like Wednesdays because it is right in the middle of the week. The weekends are actually slow for me, so posting on a weekday yields better traffic for me. However, pick a day that works for you, just make it consistent!
8. Don’t Worry About the Numbers
Once you embark on your blogging journey, it seems like all you ever think about is the numbers. How many social media followers do I have? What are my page views for today? How many shares do I have? Don’t get me wrong, you want to look at your data. Use Google Analytics to help you figure out what is working and what is not. However, don’t sweat the small numbers. You are more than your number of followers or page views per day!
9. Be You
Sure, there are a lot of other bloggers out there. Some are even super successful. However, you are you. There is nobody out there just like you, even if there are thousands in your niche. You have your own unique story to tell and that may be just what your potential readers need to hear. Do not try to be like anyone else. Just be yourself and your readers with love your authencity and keep coming back for more!
